This event shall take place on: Wednesday 4th August from 7pm until 9pm at the St. Roberts Centre, Harrogate, HG1 1HP. We hope you will be able to join us and would appreciate if you could confirm your attendance by email, or via the contact page.
Wa salaam
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We held a public meeting for Harrogate Muslims on 11 July 2010, and despite competition from the World Cup, there was a good number of Muslims who attended. (We did have cake!) There was a short talk by Yasser who explained to purpose of the meeting and then a short speech by Nasr Emam, the Community Cohesion Officer for North Yorkshire County Council. It was a brilliant time for networking and making friends with Harrogate Muslims, and those who were looking to help in developing a great community of Muslims in Harrogate. We collected a questionnaire from everyone, to determine what was needed most in the community. Once the data has been collated we will be looking to form a steering committee to lead the progress. In the meantime, lets all plan to get together somewhere in Ramadan for iftar, and to get together for our Eid celebrations. A big thank you to everyone who got involved in this - may Allah reward you. Wasalaam Nurann ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Organisation Harrogate is short of facilities for Muslims. The last census showed there were over 300 Muslims in Harrogate, and yet the only prayer facilities are at the hospital. We have no local halal meat supplier, and no meeting rooms or other facilities. The aim of this organisation is to provide a point of reference for Muslims in Harrogate, and thus to generate sufficient interest to organise a regular meeting, and Friday prayers. We do have a native Arab speaker who is willing to teach Arabic classes if we can find enough people interested. So if you or you want for your children to have Arabic lessons please get in touch. Thats it. Anything you want to add, just contact us... Please log in to access the forums and add your thoughts. Fi imanallah. |
